MYL
MYL Mission & Philosophy
Our Mission
- Create a weekly match schedule for member teams to compete
- Promote the growth of the game of lacrosse throughout Massachusetts
- Cultivate and assist additional towns to start youth lacrosse programs
- Train coaches and officials
- Establish & lead efforts creating organization & guidelines to support towns in providing a safe & meaningful experience for all
Our Philosophy
There are no standings kept, no league championship or playoffs. We play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved.
We police ourselves in the effort to provide an outlet for kids that has not been swept up in the pressure filled, win at all cost mania that is too present in today’s youth sports. Any conduct perceived to be contrary to the best interests of the MYL and it's youth participants should be referred to the Regional Competition Committee.
Towns with more than one team in an age group should make every effort to balance the talent levels of the team, (i.e. there should be no A teams and B teams).
During a game, at least one coach from each team must be certified and have their MYL certification card with them. Coaches will be required to hold the pre game coaches meeting with the game official.
Conflict Resolution
Towns will require coaches and parents to not attempt to resolve conflicts on the game field. We will communicate proper conflict resolution using the MYL website, MYL Regional Directors and the MYL competition committee process.
MYL Game Rules and Regulations
MYL Classic and Select games are played by USL Youth Rules with MYL modifications.
